ZMBmedia has leveraged Blackmagic Design's ATEM 2 M/E Constellation HD switcher for a high-profile live streaming project at DC Fintech Week. The two-day conference, which focused on financial technology and democratizing information, was distributed to Fintech’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, as well as major national news networks.

ZMBmedia's Role in the Event

Founded by Zephan Moses Blaxberg in 2013, ZMBmedia specializes in videography and live streaming services. The company works with Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, nonprofits, associations, hospitals, houses of worship, and universities across the United States.

Blaxberg’s team was tasked with producing and handling all streaming components for DC Fintech Week. Their goal was to seamlessly integrate on-site speakers with remote participants via Zoom while live streaming the event to various platforms.

Blaxberg utilized the switcher’s 20 standards-converted 3G SDI inputs and 12 independent 3G SDI outputs to manage multiple feeds. This setup allowed for sending content to stage screens, confidence monitors, and reporters on-site.

“Having those 12 outputs was a huge life saver,” Blaxberg said. He configured two dedicated SDI outputs for multiview, looping them to inputs 19 and 20 of the switcher to send multiview feeds to backstage monitors.

Blaxberg also used custom macros on an ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel to automate workflows, such as sending PowerPoint slides and Zoom guests to different screens. He relied on a HyperDeck Studio HD Plus for backup recording.

Impact of the Event

The event was well-received, with Chris Brummer, a law professor at Georgetown University Law Center, noting that “the event was seamless and world class.”

“Relying on Blackmagic Design has been huge for my business,” Blaxberg concluded. “Going from a freelancer to building a business where I can work with others, like Fintech, and run such a successful event is really gratifying.”
