Firmware Update Proves Valuable in Real-World Applications

A recent firmware update for Wisycom's MCR42 UHF Camera Receiver has been gaining traction with professionals in the broadcast industry. Jesse Parker, a production sound mixer at Los Angeles-based ToneMesa Inc., has been using the updated firmware and reports improved workflow and increased confidence in the equipment.

Parker employs the MCR42 for audio input on his recorders in every production he does. He finds the updated firmware to be an asset on projects ranging from reality television to episodic to full-length feature films.

According to Parker, a key advantage of working with the MCR42 is the ability to quickly find clean frequencies across many channels without interference. The update also enables seamless connectivity with Sound Devices 688 mixer/recorder and its SL-6 SuperSlot powering and wireless accessory.

New Features Enhance Workflow

The updated firmware allows for audio mixing, recording, and wireless receiver control directly from the mixer. With the addition of the 688 mixer/recorder and SL-6 accessory, the MCR42 can use two analog channels or a digital AES3, or it can be managed and monitored by the SuperSlot to utilize all its advanced features.
