VisualOn has announced an enhancement to its live video streaming capabilities by integrating support for Intel Xeon CPUs and Datacenter GPUs. This collaboration leverages VisualOn's AI-enhanced universal content-adaptive encoding (CAE) solution, the VisualOn Optimizer, which now supports Intel QuickSync Video (QSV) hardware encoders for H.264, HEVC, and AV1.
Significant Bitrate Reductions
The Optimizer can also run on dual socket servers using Intel Xeon Scalable processors with the Intel Data Center GPU Flex Series. This integration brings significant improvements to live video streaming efficiency. Video service providers can achieve more than 40% bitrate reduction for H.264 encoding, over 50% for HEVC, and nearly 40% for AV1, all while maintaining high visual quality.
Dynamic Coding Technology
The VisualOn Optimizer employs dynamic coding technology that combines parameter matching, scene recognition, and image quality enhancement. This reduces bitrates by up to 40%—while maintaining or improving video quality, as measured by VMAF scores. The solution utilizes a machine learning-based, one-pass framework to predict and adjust encoder settings, optimizing each video segment based on its features.

The VisualOn Optimizer is available in different versions for various use cases: Optimizer VOD for on-demand video workflows, Optimizer Live for real-time video streaming, and Optimizer Fidelity for reducing the storage costs of massive mezzanine files.
