The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam has become a hotbed for innovative broadcasting technologies, and this year's event is no exception. Sound Devices, LLC's Video Devices brand is making its European debut with the PIX-E Series, a lineup of 4K recording field monitors and accessories designed to cater to the varying needs of production professionals.
The PIX-E Series includes two five-inch models, the PIX-E5 and PIX-E5H, as well as a seven-inch model, the PIX-E7. These robust monitors are built with precision monitoring tools, allowing camera operators and video assist technicians to accurately monitor their footage in real-time. The series also features the ability to record 4K and Apple ProRes edit-ready files directly to an affordable mSATA-based SpeedDrive.
Accommodating Diverse Production Needs
The PIX-E Series is designed to accommodate the diverse needs of production professionals, from camera operators to video assist technicians. The five-inch models are ideal for smaller format DSLRs, while the seven-inch model is suited for larger cameras. All three monitors feature SDI and HDMI I/O, with the PIX-E5H offering HDMI I/O only.
SpeedDrive: Simplifying File Delivery
The SpeedDrive accessory streamlines the file-delivery process by eliminating the need for special card readers or docking stations. When connected to the rear of a PIX-E monitor, the SpeedDrive's USB 3.0 interface automatically switches to a SATA interface, allowing users to transfer data at fast USB 3.0 rates.
PIX-LR Audio Interface: Enhanced Functionality
The PIX-LR audio interface brings even higher-quality audio to the monitor with two XLR inputs and outputs, featuring Sound Devices-caliber mic preamps, accurate LED metering, and dedicated transport and gain controls. This accessory adds greater functionality and usability in the field.
