Documentary Project Explores Global Food Trends
Sanjeev Chatterjee, a professor at the University of Miami School of Communication, is using the JVC GY-LS300 handheld Super 35 4KCAM camcorder to shoot a documentary about different approaches to healthy eating. The project, which began gathering 4K interview footage in Europe this summer, aims to explore fermented foods, raw foods, ancient grains, and paleo diets.
Chatterjee plans to build an audience and expand the project's scope by producing a short film for his website, www.mediaforchange.org. He also intends to produce a feature-length documentary.
GY-LS300 Features
- The JVC GY-LS300 features a 4K Super 35mm CMOS sensor and records various 4K, HD, SD, and Web-friendly proxy formats.
- The camcorder includes a built-in HD streaming engine with Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity for live HD transmission directly to hardware decoders.
- It also supports various streaming protocols for direct streaming to Ustream, YouTube, and other content delivery networks (CDNs).
Chatterjee praised the JVC GY-LS300's performance, noting its ease of use and seamless integration with his non-linear editing system. He used three Canon EF lenses with a Metabones lens adapter and two Veydra Mini Prime MFT lenses, which worked well with the camcorder's Variable Scan Mapping technology.
The professor also appreciated the JVC GY-LS300's ability to accommodate multiple workflows and its efficient encoding capabilities. He plans to use the camera for future documentary projects.
