TraderTV.Live has expanded its live streaming capabilities by integrating Blackmagic Design's Studio Camera 4K Pro cameras and ATEM Constellation 8K switchers into its production workflow. The move comes as the channel aims to scale up its daily eight-hour show, which attracts more than 340K subscribers on YouTube.
Background and Growth
Born as an internal training tool for Day Trade The World (DTTW), a leading day trading company with over 3,000 traders across 300 proprietary trading floors globally, TraderTV.Live quickly gained traction among the public. Initially conceived to teach traders how to navigate the market, the show evolved into a popular financial news source.
Workflow Upgrade
The channel's success necessitated an upgrade to handle increased demand, particularly during the pandemic when viewership surged. To accommodate this growth, TraderTV.Live added three Studio Camera 4K Pros to its existing setup of Blackmagic Studio Cameras 4Ks. Senior Production Technician Lucas Romanenko highlighted the cameras' powerful ISO capabilities and future-proof design, which includes support for Ethernet connections.
Integration Details
The production team also utilizes two ATEM Constellation 8K switchers, along with other Blackmagic Design products such as the ATEM Camera Control Panel, ATEM 2 M/E Broadcast Panel, and ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel. Romanenko emphasized the XML feature of the ATEM Constellation 8K, which allows for seamless backup and configuration management crucial for their eight-hour broadcasts run by a small team.
Additional Equipment
To support recording and playback needs, TraderTV.Live employs HyperDeck Studio HD Mini and HyperDeck Studio 12G broadcast decks connected via a Smart Videohub 40x40 router. The channel plans to use these devices for animation and graphics triggered during shows.
Reasons Behind the Choice
Marc Hoekema, solutions architect at TraderTV.Live, cited ease of use and integration as key factors in their decision to adopt Blackmagic Design's workflow. This upgrade has streamlined their operations, consolidating various components into a cohesive system.
