Syndicate of Sounds Introduces Déjà Vu Upmixer Software Development Kit At NAB Show 2024

Syndicate of Sounds—innovator in the audio technology industry created by broadcast audio pioneer Frank Foti—announced today the release of its Déjà Vu Upmixer Software Development Kit (SDK), premiering at the NAB Show 2024 in Las Vegas. This state-of-the-art tool is designed to empower manufacturers and integrators to transform stereo music into immersive audio experiences without the need to reversion or remix.

The applications for Déjà Vu technology span across broadcast audio, commercial AV, and consumer AV channels. For example, broadcast content is still mostly in stereo. Déjà Vu offers broadcasters a convenient and cost-effective way to always deliver surround sound over the air. Museums can dynamically upmix stereo content to 5.1 for interactive art exhibits for a more all-encompassing audio experience. Live venues can stream performances for playback on a surround-sound audio system or via surround-sound headphones.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring the Déjà Vu Upmixer SDK to the market,” says Frank Foti, Syndicate of Sounds CEO. “We believe Déjà Vu will open up new possibilities for audio enhancement, making immersive sound more accessible than ever before. We want an experience beyond stereo…every time you hit play.”

Déjà Vu converts stereo audio into 5.1 surround sound or more, maintaining the natural sonic integrity, frequency response, and audio level, while faithfully supporting the original production characteristics of the music. The resulting audio doesn’t sound squished or distorted, allowing audiences to fully immerse into the audio experience.

Unlike other upmixing methods, Déjà Vu does not rely on perceptual tricks like synthesized channel steering, phase modification, reverb, dynamic level adjustment, or time delay as mechanisms to create surround sound, all of which can degrade the overall audio performance. Déjà Vu-processed content sounds like it was originally mixed in 5.1 thanks to artifact-free processing. The kit also includes a binauralization feature for headphone playback, allowing an immersive experience in every playback scenario.

Déjà Vu’s advanced upmixing technology is available for OEM licensing for third-party products and can be integrated easily with existing play-out servers, while file-based workflows offer complete flexibility for music and video content.

Furthermore, the Déjà Vu Upmixer SDK is priced to scale, offering an affordable solution for businesses of all sizes. Whether you’re a small startup looking to enter the audio industry or a well-established manufacturer looking to enhance your current offerings, the Déjà Vu Upmixer SDK provides a cost-effective way to deliver top-quality surround sound audio from stereo sources.

You can experience Déjà Vu at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas, NV on April 13-17th in booth #C1808.
