Studio Goose has successfully completed the “Country Is Calling” commercial campaign for the Northern Territory Tourism Board by utilizing DaVinci Resolve Studio and Blackmagic Cloud. The project, which highlights the territory’s natural wonders and cultural heritage, involved production and post-production teams scattered throughout Australia.

Remote Collaboration Made Possible

The remote nature of the campaign required a robust workflow solution to manage data efficiently. Studio Goose employed DaVinci Resolve Studio for all post-production tasks, including grading, editing, visual effects, and audio post-production, while Blackmagic Cloud facilitated seamless collaboration among team members.

Workflow Efficiency

With the DaVinci proxy workflow, rushes were ingested and distributed to artists within minutes. This setup significantly reduced turnaround times compared to traditional methods of shipping or uploading large files over slow internet connections in remote areas.

Seamless Collaboration

The project involved multiple roles including data wranglers, assistant editors, colorists, sound designers, and online editors. Each team member worked remotely from different locations across Australia. Keaton Stewart, Founder and CEO of Studio Goose, explained the benefits: “Blackmagic Cloud enables greater creative collaboration. Every artist was working remotely, yet we achieved faster turnarounds on high-quality projects.”

Efficient Production Process

The team faced tight deadlines for two content packages that were required for a screening at the Darwin International Film Festival. Using DaVinci Resolve Studio and Blackmagic Cloud, assets were quickly sent to artists via Dropbox, allowing them to start working with minimal data downloads.

Integrated Workflow

The unified platform of DaVinci Resolve Studio streamlined post-production processes by integrating editing, sound design, visual effects, compositing, and grading into one cohesive system. Stewart emphasized the importance of this integration: “Having all central creative fields within a single program allows for seamless real-time collaboration.”

Audio-Video Synchronization

The Fairlight page in DaVinci Resolve Studio enhanced audio-video synchronization, enabling sound designers to work efficiently on rough cuts without delays. This feature is crucial for maintaining the emotional impact of the final piece.

VFX and Chroma Keying

Studio Goose also applied this workflow to other projects such as “The Gamers 2037,” a VFX-heavy tween drama series that aired on 9Go!. The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K was used for chroma key shots, providing clean keys and high resolution.
