The Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SMGB) has implemented a new unified storage platform to support its transition to 4K ultra-high-definition (UHD) content creation. The solution, built on EditShare’s EFS 300 architecture, offers a flexible workflow that integrates various editing systems and ensures high availability through redundancy.
Enhanced Workflow for Future-Proof Production
The new system includes online storage, nearline storage, and archiving capabilities managed by EditShare FLOW software. This setup enables SMGB to handle both 4K and HD resolutions seamlessly while maintaining a single point of control from ingest to archive.
Vendor Agnostic Approach
A key feature of the EditShare solution is its compatibility with multiple editing platforms, allowing users to choose their preferred software tools. This flexibility was crucial for SMGB as it sought to modernize its infrastructure without being locked into a single vendor.
Successful Implementation and Support
The project was carried out by Broadcast Solutions Middle East, an EditShare channel partner, ensuring that SMGB received local support throughout the installation process. User Feedback Highlights Benefits
Maher Kazmouz, Manager of the Media Department for His Highness Ruler of Sharjah, noted that the new system met all their requirements. “With our previous system reaching end of life, it gave us a chance to define what we really needed from a storage network,” he said. The new setup allows SMGB to work efficiently at both 4K and HD resolutions, with flexibility in file formats and creative software tools.
Intuitive Workflow
Bacho, Chief Revenue Officer at EditShare, highlighted the intuitive workflow support provided by the system. “We provide an environment completely agnostic to editing software, so it is easy for SGMB to add Adobe® Premiere® Pro to their Media Composer functionality,” he explained. This simple integration into FLOW allows editors to focus on content creation without wasting time setting up projects or searching for materials.
The comprehensive solution includes all necessary hardware and software components, from 10 gigabit ethernet switches to the EditShare FLOW asset management software, ensuring a seamless transition to UHD production.
