The Colombian streaming series “El Inquisidor,” recently launched on RTVCPlay’s platform, leverages Blackmagic Design’s Pocket Cinema Cameras for its innovative and interactive narrative. The second season of the show, which follows a young writer investigating city murders, relies on multiple cameras to provide viewers with an immersive experience.

Production Workflow

The series production team, led by Director of Photography Ruben Fernández, utilized six Pocket Cinema Camera 4K models for various shooting scenarios. These cameras’ affordability allowed the team to deploy multiple units, each configured for specific tasks. This setup enabled efficient capture of a wide range of perspectives, essential for an interactive show.

Fernández highlighted the cameras’ low-light performance and Blackmagic RAW capabilities, which were crucial for handling shadowy scenes typical in crime dramas. The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro was particularly favored for complex car chase sequences due to its compact size and built-in ND filters, eliminating the need for external gear.

Editing and Color Grading

The production team used DaVinci Resolve Studio for editing and color grading. Fernández praised the software’s collaborative workflow, which allowed multiple editors to work simultaneously on the project. This streamlined process helped in quicker scene transitions and overall project management.

DaVinci Resolve Studio’s cut page features also facilitated rapid editing tasks such as trimming and syncing bins. The color grading capabilities were especially useful for making group adjustments to clips, enhancing efficiency without compromising on quality.

Awards and Recognition

The series has received recognition, with Valencia Producciones being nominated for the Transmedia Project at the Premios TAL, which honors excellence in Latin American television. This accolade underscores the success of “El Inquisidor” and the effectiveness of the Blackmagic Design workflow utilized throughout production.
