Creative media agency Roux Media is using two Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pros from Blackmagic Design to film Playground LA’s new online dance course series “Inside the Class.” The series offers fans an inside look at the studio’s popular classes and has premiered on PGTV, Playground LA’s recently launched online platform.

High Dynamic Range and Versatility

The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro is being used to capture ten- to fifteen-minute episodes with a cinematic feel. Robert Fisher, content director at Roux Media, emphasized the importance of creating visually unique content for each class by utilizing custom 3D LUTs on the cameras.

Adaptable Lighting Conditions

Fisher highlighted the camera’s ability to shoot in low light and dark environments, thanks to its dynamic range and Blackmagic RAW capabilities. This allows the team to capture nighttime classes or choreographies performed with lights off without compromising image quality.

Agile and Lightweight Design

The compact and lightweight form factor of the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro enables Fisher’s team to remain agile during filming, capturing up to forty dancers in each class. The ease of use and flexibility of the cameras have allowed for seamless integration into the production process.
