Improved Efficiency in Local News Operations
Raycom Media, a leading media company with over 260 television stations across the US, has implemented JVC's GY-HM660 ProHD mobile news cameras to streamline its local news operations. The cameras have been instrumental in improving workflow efficiencies for multimedia journalists (MMJs) in the field.
According to Clint Moore, corporate news operations manager at Raycom Media, the GY-HM660 has become a go-to option for the company's stations. 'The vast majority of our stations use the camera to send raw clips back to the station via FTP,' he explained. This allows in-house personnel to access and edit files immediately, reducing wait times and increasing productivity.
Live ENG Reports and Asset Management
Raycom Media's MMJs can now send live news-over-IP reports directly from the field using JVC cameras. While not all stations have the decoders needed for live streaming, all use Bitcentral Oasis asset management system as a landing platform for raw content.
Moore praised the camera's reliability in the field, stating that 'field reporters love it because it doesn't slow them down.' He also noted the benefits of recording to dual SD cards, which has proven its worth in the company's operations.
Award-Winning Camera Technology
The GY-HM660 features three 12-bit CMOS image sensors for superior low-light performance, an integrated FUJINON 23x auto focus zoom lens, dual XLR inputs with phantom power, and HD-SDI and HDMI outputs. Its integrated IFB audio channels and video-over-IP capabilities make it a powerful tool for local news operations.
Raycom Media has been relying on JVC cameras for local ENG since 2013, and the company's adoption of the GY-HM660 is a testament to its commitment to improving workflow efficiencies in the field.
