Advanced Systems Group has appointed Matt Mangini, a seasoned audio technology veteran with 20 years of experience, to the role of Account Manager within its expanding audio division. Mangini will join the Burbank audio team led by Hamid “Gadget” Hopkins and overseen by Tom Menrath.
Mangini's Industry Background
Mangini brings a wealth of experience in audio production for film, TV, and music to his new role. His background traces back to his childhood in Hollywood, where he grew up around the post-sound community. Mangini’s father was one of the early adopters of ProTools during the digital revolution in Hollywood.
“I quite literally grew up in edit rooms and dub stages,” Mangini recounted. “Our family always had a computer in the household, starting in the early ‘80s. My father was one of the first to adopt ProTools at the start of the digital revolution in Hollywood.”
Passion for Technology and Art
Mangini describes himself as a “technologist when it comes to the intersection between technology and art.” His passion extends beyond just the technical aspects of audio gear; he is driven by the ability to convey human experiences through sound. “The ability to impart some part of the human experience has a certain kind of magic that drives me to help creatives achieve their vision,” Mangini added.
Building Relationships
In his new position, Mangini will focus on maintaining and growing relationships with clients, vendors, and the audio community in the LA area. His extensive network and experience make him a valuable asset to ASG’s expanding audio team.
Dave Van Hoy, President of Advanced Systems Group, expressed excitement about Mangini's joining the team. “ASG has always had long roots in audio and especially the Hollywood film and television community,” he said. “While ASG has grown to encompass all parts of media production and post-production, our passion for audio has never changed.”
Mangini’s father, a professional in the industry whom Van Hoy has worked with for over 40 years, also played a role in Mangini’s decision to join ASG. “When Gadget called and said there was an open position with people I had previous experience with, under audio team director Tom Menrath, who has a sterling reputation, it was an easy decision to sign up,” Mangini explained.
