Dubai-based gaming and esports agency PLG has unveiled a new production studio centered around Blackmagic Design’s URSA Broadcast G2 camera and ATEM Constellation 8K live production switcher. The facility, developed in collaboration with systems integrator UBMS, offers a flexible virtual environment to meet the growing demand for high-quality branded content targeting youth audiences.
Flexible Production Setup
The studio occupies a 10,000 square meter space featuring multiple green screens and presenter stages. This setup allows PLG to quickly transition between different productions while maintaining high production values. Arnor Jonsson, product and production director at PLG, explains that the agency has seen a significant rise in content creation requests, particularly for Arabic-speaking gaming markets through game launches, talk shows, and sponsored competitions.
Seamless Integration
The virtual studio integrates multiple URSA Broadcast G2 cameras, each equipped with Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinders. Live signals are transmitted via SDI into virtual environments created using Unreal Engine. Jonsson highlights the importance of seamless integration between live and virtual content to meet audience expectations for high-quality production.
Advanced Production Tools
The ATEM Constellation 8K switcher, paired with an ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel, serves as the core of the studio’s production gallery. It supports multilayered live mixes incorporating gameplay footage, statistics, and remote feeds from across the region. The switcher's multiple M/Es help reduce latency, while its chroma keyer further blends studio elements into virtual environments.
Efficiency and Speed
The studio’s modular design simplifies transitions between productions, enabling PLG to quickly reset camera setups and upload new graphics and backdrops. Jonsson emphasizes that the solution's flexibility and broadcast-grade production values give PLG a significant advantage in meeting the demands of major brands for online and gaming platform content.
