YouTube creator PhotoJoseph has integrated Blackmagic Cloud and the Cloud Store Mini into his workflow to facilitate remote collaboration with his international team. The setup allows him to manage large project libraries efficiently while expanding his operations, including a Spanish language version of his channel.
Transitioning to DaVinci Resolve Studio
In 2016, PhotoJoseph launched his YouTube channel as a resource for aspiring photographers and filmmakers. Initially focusing on live streaming up to five times per week, he later shifted to posting primarily edited content. In 2021, he adopted DaVinci Resolve Studio for all post-production work.
Enhancing Remote Workflow
PhotoJoseph recently added a Cloud Store Mini and standardized on Blackmagic Cloud to support his growing team, which includes assistant editors based in Ukraine and a Spanish localization team in Colombia. The Cloud Store Mini enables real-time monitoring of storage status and user activity via its HDMI output.
"I love the clean, seamless workflow of the Cloud Store Mini," PhotoJoseph said. "Using a SmartView Duo monitor or another desk monitor, I can keep track of everything in real time."
Collaboration and Flexibility
The YouTuber uses an ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4K switcher and six HyperDeck Mini broadcast decks for capturing footage. Proxies generated by the Blackmagic Proxy Generator App are synced to Dropbox, making them accessible to remote editors.
"Depending on the project, my assistant editor may begin editing a rough cut of my video on Blackmagic Cloud," PhotoJoseph explained. "I can review and make changes from anywhere in the world using DaVinci Resolve 18."
Expanding Global Reach
The collaboration tools in DaVinci Resolve Studio have enabled PhotoJoseph to hire talent globally, enhancing his ability to produce high-quality content. He utilizes various features within the software, including Fusion for creating effects and Fairlight for audio sweetening.
"With Blackmagic Cloud and the collaboration features in DaVinci Resolve Studio, I’m no longer constrained to my office," he said. "This has really opened up my creative possibilities."
New Venture
PhotoJoseph is currently setting up PhotoJoseph Español, a Spanish language version of his channel, with the help of a remote team in DaVinci Resolve for dubbing videos and creating subtitles.
"With Blackmagic Design, I can accomplish so much more and work on projects that I could have never done before," he concluded. "I’m excited to see what I can create next!"
