DALLAS — April 28, 2016 — The Talon G1 hardware encoder, manufactured by Osprey Video, is the recipient of one of the industry’s most prestigious technology honors, NewBay Media’s Best of Show Award, presented at the 2016 NAB Show in Las Vegas by Video Edge magazine.
“We at Osprey have put a lot of effort into creating video-delivery technology that complements our popular video capture cards because we know that many customers prefer to rely on one manufacturer for their entire video workflow,” said Roger Bieri, CEO, Osprey Video. “The Talon G1 is one of the first products to come from that effort. To be recognized as an innovator in this distinguished field is not only an honor, but it confirms that we’re headed in the right direction.”
NewBay Media’s Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency, and performance in serving the industry.
Winners receive an award for display and will be featured in Video Edge, which covers content production and delivery for every screen.
All nominated products also are featured in the special Best of Show Awards Program Guide, to be distributed in digital form to more than 100,000 readers of Video Edge, TV Technology, Digital Video, Radio World, Radio magazine, Pro Sound News, and Sound & Video Contractor after the convention.
Designed for A/V and broadcast customers looking for end-to-end video-streaming tools, the Talon G1 is a three-channel hardware-based streaming contribution encoder that ingests video from multiple formats, encodes it to H.264, and delivers it over IP. The Talon G1 can ingest video via 3G/HD-SDI, HDMI, or analog composite inputs and encode up to three streams simultaneously while saving to a .TS file, with frame alignment across all streams for multiple-bit-rate streaming. A simple, Web-based interface gives users quick access to encoding settings for easy configuration. Talon’s small form factor (3.5 inches by 5.5 inches including connectors, and only 1 inch thick); low power consumption; and silent, fanless operation mean users can effectively set it and forget it.
“Recognition with an award at the NAB Show from NewBay Media’s Broadcast & Video Group is a strong vote of confidence and admiration from our leading industry publications,” said Eric Trabb, vice president and group publisher, NewBay Media Broadcast & Video Group.
