Kolrom Multimedia has integrated multiple Ultimatte 12 HD and Ultimatte 12 HD Mini real-time compositing processors across its three green screen studios in Maryland and New Jersey. The installations include a full wraparound cyclorama wall measuring 24 ft. wide by 18 ft. deep, designed to enhance virtual environments for events and productions.

Improved Keying Quality

Kolrom Multimedia provides pre- through post-production services for various media types but has become a hub for hosting multicam virtual events, live streams, virtual production, music videos, and VFX work. CJ Kramer, the owner of Kolrom Multimedia, emphasized that their clients, primarily nonprofits, benefit from cost-effective green screen solutions without increased prices.

Prior to adopting the Ultimatte 12 models, Kolrom Multimedia relied on a combination of ATEM Mini switchers for keying and switching. However, the new Ultimatte processors offer cleaner keys and better handling of imperfections like hair and edges, making virtual sets appear more organic and realistic.

Seamless Integration

Kramer highlighted the seamless integration between the Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 and the newly launched Ultimatte Software Control app. The software allows for easy media management, as it is already on the PC housing virtual set files, facilitating smooth transitions between different control methods.

The studio's Blackmagic Design arsenal includes five Studio Camera 4K Pros, five Pocket Cinema Camera 4Ks, and various recording solutions like HyperDeck Studio HD Mini and HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro. Additional tools such as the Web Presenter HD for live streaming, Audio Monitor 12G, and ATEM Streaming Bridge further enhance production capabilities.

Accessible Professional Tools

Kramer concluded that while ATEM Mini models made live streaming more accessible, the Ultimatte 12 processors significantly improve professional keying for virtual environments. This advancement bridges the gap between film and live production, enabling a broader range of productions to benefit from high-quality green screen technology.
