Actus Digital has unveiled OTT StreamWatch, a new monitoring solution designed to address the needs of those creating and distributing OTT FAST/IPTV streaming channels. The tool provides 24x7 monitoring and recording of native HLS streams, making it easier for engineers to track the quality of linear FAST/IPTV channels throughout their workflow—from encoding to delivery.

New Features and Enhancements

Available in both SaaS and on-premises formats, OTT StreamWatch handles a range of resolutions and speeds from various CDNs across unmanaged networks. It integrates seamlessly with traditional TV station/broadcast content on multiviewers, highlighting affected probe-points as issues arise to help engineers quickly identify and resolve problems.

In addition to real-time alerts for critical audio-video quality-of-experience issues like missing or frozen content and compliance violations such as loudness and missing closed captions/subtitles, OTT StreamWatch extends the Actus platform's capabilities to OTT QA. It evaluates bandwidth usage, streaming media download times, and buffering issues within HLS streams, and includes SCTE insertion information.

Version 9.0 Enhancements

Actus Digital has also released version 9.0 of its Intelligent Monitoring Platform, featuring support for additional standards including ATSC 3.0, SMPTE 2110/2022-6/7, and most streaming standards. Improvements in Actus Remote Video Monitoring (RVM) tools for MVPD engineering and operations, as well as enhancements to Actus AdWatch, make it easier for TV station sales teams to generate AI-generated Zero-Run and Delta-Report lead lists.

Ken Rubin, Senior Vice President at Actus Digital, noted that the new OTT StreamWatch can be integrated into a traditional Actus Intelligent Monitoring Platform, adding detailed OTT Quality-of-Service (QoS) information to transport stream analysis. This hybrid approach allows companies delivering content for both OTA and OTT channels to leverage the platform's QA alerting, compliance logging, and multiviewer monitoring capabilities.

Platform Overview

The Actus platform offers a single interface that is intuitive and searchable by channel/date/time, issues, closed captions, advertiser, program names, and more. It includes optional AI-based workflows for creating and editing clips, either manually or through automation, to optimize viewer engagement.

Actus Digital will demonstrate its new OTT StreamWatch solution along with version 9.0 of its Intelligent Monitoring Platform, including Clip Factory Pro, AdWatch, and RVM (Remote Video Monitoring), at Booth W-1767 during the 2023 NAB Show in Las Vegas.
