Filmmaker Chronicles Life of Endangered Species
Jason Henwood, a seasoned videographer, recently embarked on a passion project documenting the life of Scotland's endangered wildcat. To bring this unique story to life, he turned to Miller Camera Support Equipment for the right equipment.
In the rugged terrain of Scotland, Henwood needed gear that could withstand harsh conditions and allow him to capture footage quickly and accurately. Miller's Solo 100 3 Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod proved to be the perfect solution, providing a rapid setup time and unparalleled stability in windy conditions.
The tripod's innovative leg angle control and safety lock ensured that Henwood could set up his camera in less than ideal conditions, eliminating the need for a spreader. 'In less than ideal and very windy conditions, I was literally able to set my camera up and be ready for shooting within a minute or two,' Henwood noted.
Fluid Head Delivers Precise Pan and Tilt
In conjunction with the ARRI AMIRA and 2x Doubler, Miller's ArrowX7 fluid head provided the precise pan and tilts needed to capture shots with long lenses. This allowed Henwood to reach up to 500mm for closeups of the wildcat's prey, including hare, rabbit, and red squirrels.
Henderson praised the performance of the ArrowX7, stating, 'Miller's ArrowX7 with its wide payload range, precision fluid drag and counterbalance delivered the flexibility, speed of set up and accuracy of shot is exactly what was needed for this production environment.'
