LiveFRAME, a production company, has implemented a multicamera workflow using Blackmagic Design’s URSA Broadcast G2 cameras and ATEM Constellation 8K live production switcher to support the electronic music festival Time Warp in Mannheim, Germany. The setup enabled rapid content creation for social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
Efficient Workflow for Large Festivals
The event, which attracted 30,000 attendees, required a sophisticated production system to handle the demands of live streaming. LiveFRAME’s mobile facility used more than two kilometers of optical fiber to route feeds from the festival area, overcoming logistical challenges.
Seamless Integration and Control
Christoph Pauli, CEO of LiveFRAME, highlighted the system’s ability to integrate seamlessly. “The URSA Broadcast G2 cameras were chosen for their high-quality recording capabilities, which align with the festival's aesthetic,” he explained. The workflow included multiple Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12Gs to handle video signals and Smart Videohub 12G 40x40 routers.
Quick Content Delivery
The team faced additional hurdles in managing artist permissions for streaming content. To address this, they used HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro SSD recorders to transfer files via FTP to a media server accessible by the editorial team. Pauli noted that the process from live recording to editing and publishing took less than 30 minutes.
Remote Camera Control
The setup included multiple URSA Broadcast G2 camera chains, some of which were positioned for bird’s-eye views and remotely controlled via an ATEM Camera Control Panel. Additionally, three Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6Ks on sliders provided close-up shots adjacent to DJ mixing desks.
Cost-Effective Solution
Pauli emphasized the system's cost-effectiveness compared to similar products from other manufacturers while maintaining high performance and flexibility. “The Blackmagic ecosystem blends perfectly, offering everything we need in one solution,” he concluded.
