Seattle FM Station Boosts Coverage, Reach with MaxxCasting System

KDDS(FM), a Bustos Media-owned station serving the Seattle region, has increased its coverage-to-contour ratio after deploying the patented MaxxCasting technology. The system solves signal challenges associated with graphically shadowed terrain and poor building penetration.

The synchronized, single-frequency network (SFN) approach of MaxxCasting solves the coverage challenges of broadcasting across hilly, disruptive terrain near Interstate 5, the main corridor that runs north and south through the region. The specific SFN architecture includes five nodes strategically positioned alongside the interstate to maximize signal penetration.

Improved Signal Penetration

The KDDS MaxxCasting system deployment has solved the station's greatest coverage challenges, allowing listeners driving through the region to receive a clean and consistent broadcast without interference or loss of signal. Businesses and residential neighborhoods that previously could not hear the station are now receiving broadcasts.
