JVC Enhances GY-LS300 4KCAM Handheld Camcorder with Firmware Upgrade
Version 2.0 firmware for the JVC Professional Video GY-LS300 4KCAM handheld Super 35 camcorder has been announced, bringing new features and capabilities to the popular camera.
The update adds a 'JVC Log' mode that mimics the look of film, as well as Cinema 4K and Cinema 2K recording modes at various frame rates. The camera's Super 35 CMOS sensor provides high dynamic range and contrast ratio for improved image quality.
Prime Lens Zoom and Histogram Display
The new firmware also introduces a Prime Lens Zoom feature, which uses JVC's Variable Scan Mapping technology to electronically adapt the active area of the camera's image sensor. This allows for 2.3x maximum zoom for HD or 1.25x maximum zoom for 4K when used with Micro Four Thirds (MFT) prime lenses.
A histogram display has also been added, allowing users to check exposure by showing the brightness distribution of the image. The function can be accessed through a convenient user button and the range can be set to provide top and bottom limits.
Additional Features and Enhancements
The Version 2.0 firmware update includes several additional features, including a new 70Mbps recording mode for economical Class 10 SDHC/SDXC memory cards. It also adds a color matrix adjustment, spot meter for setting exposure values, and black paint setting to precisely adjust color temperature of master black.
JVC Professional Video will be exhibiting at the upcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas, where attendees can learn more about the GY-LS300 and other products from the company.
