High-Definition Production for Thoroughbred Racing

International Sound Corporation (ISC), a leading provider of broadcast engineering services and products, has deployed Hitachi Z-HD5000 HDTV cameras to deliver superior-quality video production at several major thoroughbred racing events.

The exceptional image quality, performance, and reliability of the Hitachi cameras have been put to the test during productions for high-profile events such as the Preakness Stakes and the William Hill Haskell Invitational.

ISC has designed, installed, and operated broadcast control rooms and production workflows tailored to the unique needs of race tracks. The company has deployed hundreds of Hitachi cameras across nearly 50 tracks, with plans to expand their use as clients transition from standard definition (SD) to high-definition (HD) video production.

Camera Performance Under Demanding Conditions

The Z-HD5000 cameras have consistently produced outstanding image quality and exceptional dynamic range even under rapidly changing lighting conditions. The cameras' high-performance 2/3” CCD imagers, advanced digital signal processing, and powerful picture controls enable them to react well to changing light levels.

ISC's Executive Vice President, Joe Gordon, praised the Hitachi cameras for their durability and reliability in challenging outdoor environments, including dirt, sand, rain, and extreme temperatures.

Marquee Events Showcase Camera Capabilities

The Preakness Stakes and the William Hill Haskell Invitational were two of the most prestigious racing events where ISC used Hitachi Z-HD5000 cameras. The events featured American Pharoah in his premier race after becoming the first Triple Crown winning horse in over 35 years.

The installations at Pimlico Race Course and Monmouth Park Racetrack each included seven Hitachi HD cameras, with the majority deployed in fixed positions and others used handheld to highlight the camera's operational flexibility.
