UUUM Corporation, a YouTuber and influencer marketing company based in Japan, has integrated Blackmagic Design's workflow into its eight in-house studios. The studio complex, named RUUUM, features advanced equipment such as ATEM Constellation 8K live production switchers, Smart Videohub routers, and HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR disk recorders to support a wide range of projects including live streaming, corporate work, and general filmmaking.

RUUUM's Modular Design

The core of RUUUM is its control room, equipped with an ATEM Constellation 8K switcher and ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel 20 for control. The setup includes two Smart Videohub 40x40 routers, HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR, and HyperDeck Extreme Control devices for recording and playback. Additionally, the studio utilizes Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K for streaming and encoding, along with UltraStudio 4K Mini and DeckLink 8K Pro capture and playback devices to send subtitles and graphics.

Scalability and Flexibility

Tomonari Miwa, team leader/technical director of UUUM's creative group, explains that the studio is designed to accommodate both in-house creators and affiliated content producers. “This setup allows our creators to bring their own equipment or rent from us if needed,” Miwa states. The modular design of the ATEM Constellation 8K switcher with its 40 inputs and remote control capabilities enables streaming from any of the eight studios or the control room.

The uniform software interface across all ATEM models simplifies training for staff and creators, facilitating proficiency in streaming workflows. Miwa highlights that the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO is also used by editors for switching while recording and fine-tuning in DaVinci Resolve Studio, which is beneficial for time-sensitive projects.

Efficiency Enhancements

The integration of Blackmagic Design's products has not only streamlined operations but also enhanced efficiency. Miwa notes that the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO can batch record multi-camera feeds onto a single SSD, simplifying the recording process. This setup is particularly useful for large-scale gaming events and special content production.
