Imagine Communications has unveiled the Aviator Orchestrator platform, designed to streamline multi-site playout management by unifying on-premises and cloud operations. The new solution aims to simplify the complexities of broadcast workflows, especially as more organizations adopt cloud technologies for redundancy and disaster recovery.
New Platform Enhances Workflow Management
The Aviator Orchestrator integrates Imagine Communications’ on-prem playout and automation capabilities with its public cloud platform, Imagine Aviator. It also incorporates Amagi’s CLOUDPORT cloud playout engine and THUNDERSTORM dynamic ad insertion platform, extending support to Google Cloud in addition to AWS.
Key Features of Aviator Orchestrator
Brendon Mills, general manager of Playout and Networking at Imagine Communications, highlights the platform’s ability to synchronize channels and manage resources across different locations. “Aviator Orchestrator provides a rethink of how to establish, use, and maintain these systems,” he says.
The platform supports deploying new channels with associated resources like content and live feeds, while setting up redundancy and disaster recovery relationships. It ensures synchronization of playout channels featuring live inputs, clip playout, graphic branding, SCTE decoration, scheduled playout, and master control integration.
Template Architecture for Efficiency
Aviator Orchestrator utilizes a template architecture to streamline channel deployment, ensuring consistency and reducing configuration errors. Templates are centrally managed with version tracking, making it easier to roll out new software versions or manage occasional use resources.
Integration with Routing Control Systems
The platform works in conjunction with Imagine’s Magellan Connect feature set, which supports low-latency encoding and secure delivery techniques for ground-to-cloud routing control. It also interfaces with both Imagine Communications’ and partners’ on-premises and cloud routing control and playout systems.
