Vista Productions Steps Up IMAG Game with Hitachi SK-UHD4000 Cameras

Vista Productions, a live event and video production services provider, has upgraded its image magnification (IMAG) capabilities at the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion (AMP) and other locations by deploying six Hitachi SK-UHD4000 cameras in their mobile truck.

The company's transition to 4K was motivated by the AMP's new 14.5 foot wide by 26 foot high LED screens, which support high dynamic range (HDR). The Hitachi SK-UHD4000 cameras enable Vista to have a 12G-SDI, 10-bit, 4K, HDR signal path all the way through the production and output chain.

Vista's Camera Selection Criteria

Vista Productions' founder, Mick Warnock, emphasized that the company's primary focus is not broadcasting. Instead, they aim to present the most beautiful live images from a meeting or event onto a large local display. Warnock sought cameras that would stay in the 4K domain all the way through to those displays while retaining the ability to downscale for alternate needs.

SK-UHD4000 Features

The Hitachi SK-UHD4000 cameras feature exceptionally low visual noise, which is particularly significant for the dramatic and varying lighting often used during concerts. The cameras also have focus-assist capabilities through their nine-inch studio viewfinders, as well as intercom integration support and remote motorized filter wheel control.

Vista's Experience with SK-UHD4000s

Since deploying the cameras in June, Vista Productions has used them for both 4K and HD events. Warnock praised the image quality of the cameras, stating that even in HD mode, the results are amazing. He also highlighted the cameras' ability to handle varying lighting conditions during concerts.
