HaZ Dulull, a writer and director known for his high-concept short films, has completed his debut feature-length film, 'The Beyond'. The sci-fi documentary-style film was shot entirely on digital film cameras from Blackmagic Design, including the URSA Mini 4.6K and URSA Mini Pro.
Behind-the-Scenes Insights
A team of industry professionals worked with HaZ to bring his vision to life. The production crew interchanged between a cinematic and a grounded reportage feel throughout the film, requiring flexibility in camera settings. Blackmagic's digital film cameras proved versatile in capturing the desired look, even in low-light conditions.
Post-Production Process
The film was edited and graded using DaVinci Resolve 14, which allowed HaZ to complete post-production efficiently without compromising on quality. The film was mastered to 2K with an aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and delivered in Dolby Vision.
HaZ worked closely with colorist Max Horton, who carried out the final grade at Dolby London. The film is now available worldwide on iTunes through distributor Gravitas Ventures.
