Glensound has unveiled two new additions to its Dark family of products: the Dark2MAI and Dark4MAI. These microphone interface units are designed for versatility and reliability, catering to a wide range of broadcast and live sound applications.
New Models Enhance Audio Capture
The Dark2MAI supports two inputs, while the Dark4MAI handles four. Both models connect microphones to Dante networks using dual redundant internet connections, available over fiber or copper. This setup ensures robust and uninterrupted audio transmission.
Power Over Ethernet Capabilities
These devices can be powered locally but also support Power over Ethernet (PoE), which provides 48V phantom power for condenser microphones. The same circuitry as the other Dark models ensures high-quality, low-noise audio capture with a wide dynamic range, suitable for various applications including interviews and orchestral recordings.
Dark22M: A Compact Solution
In addition to the new two- and four-input units, Glensound has introduced the Dark22M. This compact device offers two inputs and two outputs, featuring return or confidence feeds along with mix and gain control capabilities. These features allow users to fine-tune audio performance according to their specific needs.
Like other Dark devices, the Dark22M can be controlled via the GlenController Windows app or any suitable device controller using UDP. Marc Wilson, managing director of Glensound, emphasized that these new additions are a direct response to user feedback. “Our users worldwide know we prioritize audio quality and innovative functionality,” he said. “We aim to provide simple solutions for the challenges faced in broadcast and live sound.”
Broader Glensound Range at IBC
The company will also demonstrate its PBS system, a comprehensive audio solution for parliamentary and legislative settings. The PBS covers both main debating chambers and committee rooms, offering flexibility for fixed or ad hoc delegate seating. It provides clean audio feeds for broadcast, logging, and sound reinforcement, while also handling voting and delegate management through the same software package.
At IBC2025, visitors can explore Glensound's full range of products, including solutions tailored for live events, broadcasts, esports, and conference stages. The company will be showcasing these innovations at stand 8.F72 in Amsterdam RAI from September 12 to 15.
