Grupo Imagen Taps GatesAir for Mexico-wide Expansion

GatesAir, a global leader in wireless over-the-air content delivery solutions, has won a major contract to provide transmitters for Grupo Imagen's FM radio and TV network expansion in Mexico.

The project involves the deployment of 11 Flexiva FAX air-cooled FM radio transmitters ranging from 2.5kW to 40kW, as well as a mix of Maxiva ULXTE liquid-cooled and UAXTE air-cooled UHF TV transmitters. The specific TV transmitter breakdown includes three ULXTE models ranging from 6kW to 10kW, and four UAXTE air-cooled models ranging from 2 to 4kW.

Reliability and Local Support Key Factors

GatesAir's high-performance transmitters were a key factor in winning the contract, according to Grupo Imagen. The company's previous-generation transmitters have been in operation for some time, demonstrating their reliability and efficiency. Additionally, GatesAir will provide local service and support through two dedicated field engineers based in Mexico, which was seen as an important deciding factor against competitive suppliers.

Efficiency and Cost Savings

The new transmitters will also bring benefits in terms of reduced maintenance and common spare parts. With all 18 new transmitters spread across 17 cities, the shared hot-swappable power supplies and amplifier modules will minimize time spent on labor and repairs while maximizing operational efficiency.
