GatesAir has unveiled a new full-rack-unit Intraplex IP Link 100n codec, expanding its line of Audio over IP hardware solutions. The addition comes with support for MicroMPX technology, designed to reduce bandwidth consumption for FM MPX signals.

New Codec Features

The Intraplex IP Link 100n is a full-duplex codec capable of handling simultaneous reception and transmission in various networking applications like STL (Studio-to-Transmitter) and STS (Studio-to-Studio). It supports 10-bit audio processing, Secure Reliable Transport (SRT), and cloud-based monitoring. The new codec also includes dual power supplies, multi-source audio switching with automatic failover, and USB ports for on-air protection.

MicroMPX Integration

GatesAir has integrated MicroMPX technology into its latest IP Link hardware products, including the 100c half-rack-unit codec, 100e transmitter module, and now the new 100n. This integration allows FM broadcasters to transport full composite MPX signals at a reduced bandwidth of 320kb/s, potentially decreasing consumption by up to five times.

Keyur Parikh, Vice President of Engineering at GatesAir, highlighted the benefits of this technology: “With MicroMPX integration, FM SFN broadcasters using IP Links and SynchroCast3 software can distribute bandwidth-reduced streams to multiple transmitters with additional benefits including Dynamic Stream Splicing,” he said. This feature helps in reducing operational expenses while ensuring optimal stream protection.

The new MicroMPX implementation is available immediately as an option for all three next-generation IP Link solutions. GatesAir will be showcasing the technology at IBC2023, set to take place September 15-18 in Amsterdam RAI, where they will discuss use cases and provide demonstrations.
