GatesAir Expands Reach in Australia with Omnicast Partnership

GatesAir, a global leader in wireless content delivery solutions for radio and TV broadcasters, has partnered with Sydney-based Omnicast as its Australian distribution channel. The partnership aims to deliver complete systems and guide broadcasters through challenging transitions, including the migration to DAB+ digital radio systems.

Omnicast is a systems integrator and distributor specializing in radio, television, cinema, and satellite systems. With a focus on delivering turnkey design, commissioning, and integration services, Omnicast will work closely with GatesAir to provide broadcasters across Australia with comprehensive solutions for their over-the-air needs.

GatesAir's Australian Portfolio

As part of the partnership, Omnicast will leverage GatesAir's vast portfolio of radio solutions from studio to transmitter. This includes high-efficiency, ultra-compact transmitter designs that are ideal for broadcasters in Australia, where transmitter rental space is highly expensive.

GatesAir's recent introduction of liquid-cooled TV and radio transmitters is expected to deliver a two-year payback for broadcasters in Australia, particularly within the major cities. The company's IP-networked DAB+ architecture is also well-suited for national rollouts, bringing together its Maxiva VAX transmitters with ETI/EDI transport for multipoint signal distribution.

DAB Radio Transition

The DAB Radio transition has taken shape in the cities of Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, with approximately 3 million listeners to date. Omnicast expects the DAB+ digital radio migration to spread into regional areas over the next few years, eventually covering most of the country's 22 million residents.

GatesAir's networked studio systems will also play a key role in the partnership, allowing for seamless integration with existing infrastructure and enabling broadcasters to transition their networks to IP transport networks using GatesAir Intraplex IP Link codecs.
