GameStop Italia has launched a series of 52 weekly streaming episodes on Twitch, utilizing Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pros as part of their live production setup. The Italian arm of the global video game and consumer electronics retailer is producing diverse content including discussions, unboxings, live gaming sessions, and interviews with industry guests for its 20,000 followers.
Production Setup Details
The episodes are streamed live from a purpose-built 80 square meter set at Videogames Party’s facility in Milan. Videogames Party, the live entertainment content specialist commissioned by GameStop Italia, chose Blackmagic Design's equipment for its versatility and ability to produce high-quality 4K content on a tight schedule.
The production studio is equipped with an SDI-based workflow featuring four Studio Camera 4K Pros. One camera is mounted on stabilizers in the lounge area for discussions about industry trends, while two others capture unboxing and live gaming sessions. The fourth camera is crane-mounted to provide a detailed panoramic view.
Workflow Integration
Videogames Party founder Nicola Pisano highlighted the Studio Camera 4K Pros' ability to deliver aesthetically pleasing video, similar to that of movies. The SDI connectivity offers practical built-in talkback functionality, enabling seamless coordination between the director and camera operators without moving from their stations.
The live production switcher used is an ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K, which handles vision mixing for each episode. VMix adds graphics to the program before it goes live on Twitch. This setup allows for a multilayered production with automatic standards conversion, ensuring quick and easy go-live capabilities.
