The FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2022 Paris Masters utilized a multicamera outside broadcast (OB) setup incorporating the ATEM Constellation 8K live production switcher. This marks the first time Toulouse-based Stop and Go Production, known for sports production, employed their custom OB truck in a French event at the historic Carreau du Temple.

Custom OB Truck Design

Designed entirely in-house within six months, the OB vehicle is capable of accommodating up to four technicians. It features a hybrid 4K IP and SDI production workflow, making it scalable for various events such as festivals, concerts, and theater productions.

ATEM Constellation 8K Integration

Olivier Gouze of Stop and Go Production highlighted the ATEM Constellation 8K switcher and its accompanying ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel for hardware control as central to their OB gallery control workflow. The choice was driven by the switcher's value, ease of use, and straightforward operation.

"The user interface and hardware make using and operating the production switcher incredibly straightforward," Gouze explained. "It simplifies training for our crews, which is essential given the varied nature of our projects."

Event Coverage Details

The Paris Masters event featured a nine-camera setup to capture every detail of the games, with extensive use of slow-motion replays from an EVS server. These replays were incorporated into both the live program mix and venue displays.

A key aspect of the FIBA brief was producing high-quality slow-motion reels for slam dunk contests. Gouze noted that these sequences are crucial for evaluating performances by the public and judges.

Live Stream and Venue Displays

The live program mix from the switcher was streamed to FIBA's YouTube Channel in 1080p, reaching thousands of viewers. Additional SDI outputs were used to feed various screens around the venue with different camera angles or slow-motion replays.

"We are thrilled to have Blackmagic Design in our OB workflows as we continue to meet the needs and expectations of our clients," Gouze concluded. "FIBA has been delighted with this year's collaboration, and we look forward to returning next year."
