Audio Powerhouses Unite for Reality TV

Sound Supervisor Daniel S. McCoy CAS, owner and operator of ToneMesa, Inc., recently brought together three audio powerhouses - DPA Microphones, Sound Devices, and Wisycom - to produce Kellie Pickler's CMT reality show, I Love Kellie Pickler. The show, which follows Pickler's personal life with her husband, Nashville songwriter Kyle Jacobs, required a high-quality audio setup that could capture the dynamic range of the talent's performances.

McCoy, who has been working in the industry for over 20 years, credits the DPA d:screet™ 4061 Omnidirectional Microphones for their ability to handle humid conditions and provide high-quality audio. He also praised the Sound Devices 688 recorder/mixer for its smooth workflow and efficient metadata management.

Wisycom's RF Solutions Shine

The Wisycom MTP40S Wideband Bodypack Transmitters, MTP41 Pocket UHF Transmitters, and MCR42 Miniature Camera Receivers played a crucial role in the production, allowing McCoy to capture audio from various sources, including distant conversations. The receivers were able to pick up frequencies at a range of 200-300 feet of line of sight and even captured conversations from 500 feet away.
