Three cyclists are set to embark on a 9,000 km journey across Canada, aiming to raise awareness and $200,000 CAD for Parkinson's disease research. The Spinning Wheels Tour will use Dejero’s GateWay network aggregation device and LivePlus mobile app to provide reliable live streaming throughout the three-month expedition.
Dejero Supports Ambitious Cycling Tour
The tour, spanning 150 km per day over six days a week from June 25 to September, will traverse every Canadian province. Steve Iseman, Jim Redmond, and Mike Loghrin, the founding members of Rigid Riders, plan to document their journey through live streams on YouTube and Facebook.
Dejero’s GateWay M6E6 device, equipped with Smart Blending Technology, will aggregate connectivity from multiple cellular networks using two SIM cards per network. This setup ensures robust coverage and high bandwidth, enabling uninterrupted video streaming despite varying terrain and remote locations.
Live Streaming Solutions Ensure Continuous Coverage
The cyclists will use a combination of GoPro cameras mounted on their bikes, a dash cam from an accompanying RV, and a larger format camera for interviews. The Dejero LivePlus app, available on both iOS and Android devices, will capture spontaneous content and multiple viewpoints.
Mike Loghrin, responsible for live streaming during the tour, emphasized the importance of Dejero’s support: “With Dejero onboard, we don’t need to worry about finding a hotspot or Wi-Fi connection at the next hotel or cafe in order to broadcast live. We can literally live stream whenever we want to.”
The regular weekly live show will also feature footage from the previous week, providing a comprehensive chronicle of their journey.
Engagement and Awareness
Richard McClurg, chief marketing officer at Dejero, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “Dejero is proud to support this inspiring initiative in support of Canadians living with Parkinson’s disease. We’re happy to provide resilient connectivity to enable them to share live updates during the challenging journey.”
The Spinning Wheels Tour aims not only to raise funds but also to encourage those affected by Parkinson's to engage in physical activity, which has been shown to slow down the progression of the disease.
