Creamsource has expanded its Vortex line of LED lighting solutions with the introduction of the Vortex8 Soft (V8S) and Vortex4 Soft (V4S), as well as the Vortex24. These new additions offer enhanced functionality and increased output, catering to a wider range of production needs.
Soft Panels Enhance Lighting Flexibility
The Vortex8 Soft and Vortex4 Soft panels are designed for maximum efficiency and performance as native soft light solutions. They feature the same RRGBBW color engine, build quality, and user interface that lighting professionals have come to expect from Creamsource. The V8S delivers 650W of output, while the V4S offers 325W, making them suitable for both flat panel diffuser and open-face configurations.
These soft panels can be mixed with existing Vortex8 and Vortex4 hard panels using LNX mounting systems or Creamsource Multi Yokes to create diverse arrays. This flexibility allows filmmakers to adjust focus on the fly, balancing intensity and softness for dynamic lighting effects in various settings.
Vortex24: Increased Power and Coverage
The Vortex24 is a larger form factor solution that offers triple the output of the Vortex8, providing 1950W of power with a 20° beam angle. It includes 24 directional pixel zones for nuanced lighting effects, enabling complex simulations like fire and motion. The compact design with built-in ballast makes it easier to store on carts and integrate into truck packages.
The Vortex24 also features dual Ethernet ports with a built-in Gigabit switch, allowing for single-cable runs and daisy-chaining of units for efficient light array management and simpler control using protocols like sACN. The unit is equipped with a front latch system for quick diffuser swaps and includes a medium flat diffuser for immediate light softening.
Vortex Ecosystem: Seamless Integration
The Vortex ecosystem emphasizes seamless integration with the addition of LNX mounting systems, versatile multi yokes like the 2Up and 3Up, and CreamOS software. This ensures a familiar and user-friendly workflow for gaffers, lighting console programmers, and filmmakers.
Creamsource CEO Tama Berkeljon highlighted the company's commitment to quality: “We’re committed to delivering a fuss-free experience that allows filmmakers to focus on their craft.” The Vortex ecosystem includes an IP65-rated weatherproof design for durability and a 5-year warranty for long-term value.
Central to the Vortex ecosystem is the advanced Creamsource Colour Management System (CCMS), which uses a unique RRGBBW LED mix to deliver excellent color quality and consistency. Each zone is factory-calibrated, with real-time feedback ensuring color accuracy even at low dimming levels or varying temperatures.
Availability and Pricing
The Vortex8 Soft, Vortex4 Soft, and Vortex24 are available for pre-order, with shipping scheduled for Summer 2024. The V8S is priced at $4,499 USD, the V4S at $2,299 USD, and the Vortex24 at $16,499 USD.
