Atlanta is set to be the venue for a comprehensive two-day seminar designed to bridge the knowledge gap between IT technologists and video specialists in broadcast facilities. Cox Media Group (CMG), a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, will host this upcoming session of the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society's 'Bridging the Gap' training course from August 6-7 at its corporate headquarters.

According to Dave Siegler, vice president of technical operations at CMG, the seminar is crucial for improving operational efficiencies in broadcast facilities. 'File-based workflows have become the industry standard today,' he explains, 'and while they offer many advantages, engineers must possess skills in both broadcast and IT technologies to navigate these changes effectively.'

The training course will be led by well-known industry experts Wes Simpson and John Luff. It covers a wide range of current and emerging technologies used in broadcast facilities, including baseband digital video transport, video servers, data networking for broadcast facilities, metadata, archiving, and video compression.

Benefits and Details

The seminar is open to CMG employees as well as members of the broader broadcast community. Attendees can expect a deep dive into practical solutions that enhance daily operations, with a printed copy of course materials provided for future reference. Additionally, IEEE continuing education credits are available upon completion.
