It was 2008 and the crispy early February air still held a feeling of newness about it; the shine had not yet worn off the freshly-minted year and Christmas decorations still adorned some homes and businesses. In Trumbull, Connecticut, the minds behind HD World, SATCON (Satellite Communications Conference and Expo), & IP Media presented a gift just in time for Valentine’s Day to the world of communications and broadcasting. They formed Content and Communication World (CCW) – and this coalescent new union of three established industry events became one grand show.

ccw_expoThe three individual enterprises had enjoyed prodigious successes on their own, but all those who gathered together that cold and auspicious February day could see that the melding and mingling of these events had already begun of its own accord, as many of the same faces appeared at these various events; so, why not embrace change and unity by amalgamating the individual enterprises?

HD World focuses on all things HD and improving HD and its delivery as well as integration and insights for applications of HD. SATCON is focused on satellite driven tech and hybrid tech related to satellites and communication. IP Media helps provide additional insight into communication and contentment driven industry with insights into news and views of all the important issues for these fields of endeavor, along with the development of new tech for the generation and distribution of content and new models for business, government and corporate IP Networks (and internet IP), Mobile Video, Telco TV, and more. JD Events helped by providing structure and management to this joint venture, helping the industry by helping connect the right people and ensuring that instructional content reached its ideal targets.

Despite being a relatively new venture, new and similar needs and ideas were a natural fit each to the other in this emerging network of individuals.satcon logo Each Show had new tech, demonstrations, workshops, speeches and more. All were similar enough to intermingle, and different enough to generate even more interest when combined. Focusing this collection of elements toward content and communication helped spearhead the unification process, and the natural synergy of these components has continued to drive this event into the future. By Mid-October of that year, the first CCW event became a reality.

Lectrosonics — Our Story (Film)

CCW serves to draw together buyers and potential customers from and for several combined industries that can all benefit from what the CCW has to present. Broadcasters and their suppliers aren’t the only people you’ll run across here: Media & Military, Government & Enterprise, Technologies and Telco’s, Entertainment executives and Industry integrators all mingle here, all of them drawn together for this tripartite extravaganza. All of CCW’s major components fit together in a homogenous blend. Complementary fields and customer bases help insure this synergistic hybrids success.

IPMediaGroupLogoCCW continued to explore the latest trends in Content creation, Satellite Communication, management and deliver of both communications and content, Mobile Technologies, Fiber optics, Hybrid communications networks etc. To further promote this consolidated enterprise, attendance to one CCW event grants attendance to all three of its core events. This policy helps promote the growing cross development and networking of its three events. CCW filled the niche it had formed for itself so well that after its 2008 launch it attracted the attention of the NAB.

In October of 2013, the CCW had a record year - a 22% increase beyond its former record. In December, the NAB purchased the CCW, and SATCON from JD Events. Although the NAB has a huge Las Vegas show, the CCW retains its own character and schedule; this is no NAB Junior – this event guarantees a New York presence for a broadcasting showcase (where broadcasting originated) and the Javits Convention Center in New York City continues to be the venue for the CCW show. NAB knows a winner when it sees one.
