Blackmagic Design has announced price reductions for its Blackmagic Cloud Store network storage models, making it more affordable for users to distribute large media files globally. The Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini 8TB is now priced at $2,355, the 20TB model costs $7,595, and the 80TB version is available for $22,995.
Cost Reductions Enable Wider Access
The price cuts are attributed to better pricing on high-speed flash storage components. This reduction of up to $7,000 aims to make high-performance network storage more accessible for professionals who need to distribute large media files quickly.
High-Performance Network Disks
The Blackmagic Cloud Store and Mini are designed to handle large media files used in feature films. They use advanced flash memory, enabling them to manage numerous simultaneous users efficiently. Files can be synchronized between multiple units globally using Dropbox and Google Drive, ensuring fast local file access even over slower internet connections.
Features of the Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini
The Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini offers 8TB of flash memory, making it portable yet capable of storing significant amounts of video media. It employs M.2 flash memory cards arranged in a parallel RAID 0 configuration to achieve high access speeds and zero seek times. Users can upgrade the flash memory cards as new larger models become available.
Blackmagic Cloud Store Models
The Blackmagic Cloud Store is available in 20TB, 80TB, and massive 320TB configurations. These models use M.2 flash memory cards arranged in parallel RAID 5 groups for high speed combined with fault tolerance. If a card fails, the system automatically switches to read-only mode, ensuring file access.
Fast File Access
The Blackmagic Cloud Store features separate high-speed 10G Ethernet connections and is designed to saturate all ports at their maximum speed even with multiple users. Low latency ensures fast responsiveness, making it suitable for multicam editing and handling large digital film RAW files.
Integration with Dropbox and Google Drive
The storage models can set up local caches of Dropbox and Google Drive files, speeding up file access without the need to download from the internet. The devices stay in sync constantly, allowing users to save space on their computers by moving cached files to the Blackmagic Cloud Store.
CEO Statement
"Since we released these models, we have been working hard to improve our manufacturing processes," said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design. "This reduction in prices helps make network storage more affordable for customers who need to distribute large media files quickly."
