A new model of the URSA Studio Viewfinder from Blackmagic Design is now available with an enhanced 2,000 nit display and reduced price, making it more suitable for use in bright environments and studio settings. The URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 is priced at $1,495, down by $300 compared to the previous model.

Enhanced Display and Affordability

The primary upgrade in this version is a 7-inch display with a brightness of 2,000 nits, ideal for use in bright sunlight. This improvement ensures better visibility during outdoor live broadcasts or studio setups where ambient light can be an issue.

Features and Functionality

The viewfinder includes a V-Lock mounting plate for easy setup, large grip handles, and variable tension pivot points to allow adjustment of the display angle. It features physical dials, knobs, and customizable function buttons that provide control over various camera functions such as focus peaking, zebra patterns, and false color.

The back of the viewfinder boasts a large RGB LED tally indicator with clip-on perspex camera numbers to help identify each camera easily. This feature is especially useful in multi-camera setups where quick identification is crucial.

Integration and Control

The URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 connects directly to the camera's SDI input and power supply, eliminating the need for additional cables or external power sources. It supports Blackmagic Design's SDI Control Protocol, which allows for full control of the camera functions via the viewfinder.

Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, commented on the new release: “Customers have been asking for a brighter display, especially for outdoor use. We've addressed this by creating a more affordable solution that enhances their live production capabilities.”
