Blackmagic Design has unveiled the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation 4K, an Ultra HD model in its ATEM Constellation family. This new switcher supports up to 40 standards-converted 12G-SDI inputs and handles video resolutions up to Ultra HD 2160p60. The device will be available from June for $8995.

The ATEM 4 M/E Constellation 4K retains the powerful features of its HD counterpart, offering 24 customizable 12G-SDI aux outputs, 16 advanced chroma keyers, 4 downstream keyers, and 4 Ultra HD media players. It also includes two SuperSource processors for multi-layer compositions.

Compact Design with Built-in Controls

The switcher features a compact rack mount design with an integrated control panel, making it suitable for portable live production. The front panel includes a large LCD display and buttons for real-time operation, ensuring ease of use during setup or emergencies.

Its numerous inputs and DVEs allow for multi-layer compositions, while its powerful internal graphics capabilities cater to complex production needs. The switcher includes a built-in multiview feature that allows for monitoring multiple sources on a single display, with customizable layouts. It also features an internal media pool capable of storing broadcast-quality RGBA graphics and animations, accessible via four media players.

Audio Capabilities

The ATEM Constellation 4K integrates a Fairlight audio mixer with up to 156 input channels, supporting de-embedded audio from SDI inputs and additional MADI audio inputs. Each channel offers advanced EQ, compressor, limiter, expander, and noise gate features.

Control Options

The switcher is compatible with various control panels, including the ATEM Advanced Panels, which feature an industry-standard layout with LCDs for menus, high-quality buttons, and a DVE joystick. This flexibility allows for extensive customization of the control interface.
