Eliminating Delay in HD Radio Coverage
Broadcasters can now ensure a seamless listening experience for audiences in areas where HD Radio coverage is less robust, thanks to Belar Electronics' new Automatic Delay Correction feature. This software-defined solution consistently adjusts the time alignment between HD main and analog FM programming, eliminating the roughly eight-second delay that can occur on the fringes of HD Radio coverage.
The innovation lies in feeding the adjustment back toward the front of the air chain, rather than forcing the audio through the modulation monitor. Belar's Automatic Delay Correction for time alignment takes place in the audio processor or exporter, eliminating an unnecessary step and keeping costs lower for broadcasters.
How it Works
The feature establishes a connection to an audio processor or exporter, measures the signal error, and communicates the necessary adjustment to the delay line. This communication is locked into a continuous loop, ensuring that the appropriate time delay is constant and consistent.
