At the 2023 NAB Show, Actus Digital introduces OTT StreamWatch, a new SaaS/on-prem product designed to provide continuous quality assurance, compliance logging, and monitoring of native HLS and other OTT ABR streams. This solution aims to make it economically viable for content owners, streaming companies, and service providers to monitor FAST, IPTV, and OTT channels throughout their entire workflow.
Key Features Highlighted
OTT StreamWatch analyzes OTT content at various levels—manifest, encryption, and HTTP—to display QoS information clearly. Users can evaluate bandwidth usage, streaming media download times, and buffering issues within OTT streams. The product also aggregates data to help operators identify and address potential issues before they impact viewer quality.
The system supports native HLS, MPEG DASH, and CMAF formats, offering an intuitive GUI that can handle hundreds of OTT channels or probe points. It includes unlimited, customizable multiviewers for live stream visibility and allows users to define and manage parameters for QoE and QoS alert notifications.
Comprehensive Monitoring Capabilities
OTT StreamWatch provides a single dashboard for identifying QoE, QoS, SCTE, and other issues. Users can zoom from daily HLS network activity to individual HTTP/network requests and generate reports with comprehensive insights and links to video recordings from any timecode.
The solution integrates with traditional broadcast formats, enabling users to combine OTT with OTA on one platform. It also offers advanced clipping features for collaboration, compliance, and repurposing.
Cost-Effective Solution
According to Ken Rubin, Actus Digital Senior Vice President, “OTT StreamWatch addresses OTT quality issues that lead to viewer churn and revenue loss with a unique combination of features at a price well below what similar combined products would cost.”
Rubin added, “We’ve taken customer feedback into account and incorporated their requests into the design of OTT StreamWatch.”
Availability and Recognition
OTT StreamWatch is available as a turnkey system with perpetual software licenses or as a SaaS solution on AWS, any public cloud, or a customer’s Virtual Machine infrastructure/private cloud. It can be integrated into existing Actus Intelligent Monitoring Platform installations to provide one interface for both professional Transport Stream OTA Quality Assurance and HLS/other formats of OTT QA.
The product has been named a finalist for the 2023 IABM BaM Award® and nominated for NAB 2023 Product of the Year. Actus will demonstrate OTT StreamWatch at booth W-1767 in the West Hall at the 2023 NAB Show.
