From Brazil’s TV 3.0 to Immersive and AI: V-Nova Showcases Impact with Global Partners at IBC 2025

At IBC2025, V-Nova, a leading provider of AI-native data formats and compression technologies, celebrates its 10th consecutive year on the show floor by showing how its innovations are moving from vision to impact.

Backed by more than 1,300 international patents, V-Nova is a pioneer in computation-aware data, providing a fundamental solution to visual data bottlenecks. Its technologies combine hierarchical structure, low-complexity processing and capability to selectively access and decode specific resolutions or regions of interest from a single compressed file. V-Nova’s IP underpins MPEG-5 LCEVC, SMPTE VC-6, V-Nova PresenZ, as well as other international standards such as HEVC.

Together with more than 50 partners, V-Nova will showcase advances driving innovations that span broadcast, streaming, social, immersive media, and visual AI workflows. Demonstrations and panel sessions will also highlight Brazil’s TV 3.0 (DTV+), the world’s most advanced broadcast television standard. TV 3.0 has been recently formalized by presidential decree and was the first TV specification to mandate the use of MPEG-5 LCEVC as an enhancement of VVC.

At IBC, the returning LCEVC ecosystem showcase (Stand 5.A24) will expand further with demonstrations across the end-to-end distribution chain, from encoders to chipsets and consumer devices transforming broadcast, streaming, and social media video delivery. The showcase will feature Harmonic, Mirakulo, Jiuzhou, and Realtek, who will present LCEVC-ready solutions that are already powering Brazil’s TV 3.0 (DTV+) next-gen television platform, including a demo of UHD HDR below 10 Mbps as on-air today, with Globo in Rio de Janeiro, as well as SBT and Record TV in São Paulo.

Beyond broadcast, LCEVC extends to streaming platforms, social media, the web, ultra-low latency cloud gaming, and XR streaming. At V-Nova’s booth, immersive, cinematic grade six degrees of freedom (6DoF) demos will feature the V-Nova PresenZ format and streamed with LCEVC accelerated by NVIDIA technology. This demonstration combines broadcast grade compression with GPU acceleration to showcase a breakthrough that is set to expand opportunities across a growing market for narrative media.

V-Nova will also demonstrate how VC-6 and LCEVC are powering the next wave of AI evolution, reshaping the way visual data is fed to and processed by AI. In collaboration with swXtch.io, the showcase will preview how cloudSwXtch with VC-6 can give multiple AI inference media services instant selective access to visual data, reducing compute and bandwidth while enabling real time insights for broadcast, security and live events.

V-Nova will not only demonstrate its technologies on the show floor, but also bring its perspective to the IBC conference program:

  • The Responsible Media Revolution: Data Driven Sustainable Infrastructure (13 September, 4:45pm, Hall 14): Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova joins this panel to explore how the media industry can balance soaring content volumes and AI demands with sustainability and efficiency, showing how smarter infrastructure, enriched metadata, and AI-native data formats can cut costs, reduce impact and drive responsible innovation.
  • End to End 4K HDR Without the Bitrate Pain (14 September, 1.15pm, Hall 5): A fireside chat with Fabio Murra, V-Nova and Globo, discussing how the innovative broadcaster launched a brand-new UHD broadcast at scale with LCEVC, hitting the quality/bitrate sweet spot while adding data services, alerts and new business models.
  • Pixels with Purpose (14 September, 12:15pm. Hall 4): Guendalina Cobianchi, V-Nova explains how SMPTE VC-6 unlocks AI inference use cases in live environments by removing the roadblocks that hold back innovation.

“This is no longer theory. Our technologies are proving their impact at scale. LCEVC is already powering Brazil’s TV 3.0 rollout, VC-6 is redefining how video feeds production workflows and visual AI, and V-Nova PresenZ is opening new frontiers for immersive media. For V-Nova, compression is not just about saving bandwidth. It is about enabling new services. New experiences. New business models. That is the impact we are demonstrating at IBC.” said Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova.
